Gifted Apples: Tailored Literacy and Math Support for Every Learner

GiftedApples provides intensive one-on-one intervention to children Grades K-3 and to older students Grades 4-12 by a licensed and certified educator. Our goal is to provide intensive literacy instruction to all students who require specialized intervention in reading and math. We support post-high school Adult Literacy education.

Since 1991, GiftedApples Reading and Math has been dedicated to providing personalized, direct instruction that enhances our students’ academic achievement in reading and math literacy. Our passionate approach is rooted in a commitment to individualized education, ensuring that every learner can thrive. GiftedApples proudly offers over 25 nationally recognized reading and math programs, all approved by esteemed organizations such as the International Dyslexia Association, Orton-Gillingham, The National Reading Panel, and the Ohio Department of Education.

What We Teach

  • Print Awareness: Understanding the basics of how print works, including recognizing letters, words, and the direction of reading.
  • Rhyme: Exploring and identifying rhyming words to develop phonemic awareness and auditory discrimination.
  • Alliteration: Engaging with words that start with the same sound to enhance sound awareness and vocabulary.
  • Early Alphabetic & Emergent Reading: Introducing the relationship between letters and sounds, helping young learners recognize their first words.
  • Reading Readiness: Preparing children with the skills needed for successful reading, including attention span and interest in books.
  • Sound Awareness: Developing the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate the individual sounds in words.
  • Phonics: Teaching the relationship between sounds and their corresponding letters or groups of letters to build decoding skills.
  • Vowel/Consonant Relationships: Exploring how vowels and consonants work together within words to improve spelling and pronunciation.
  • Beginning Syllable Instruction (CVC, CCVC, CVCC): Introducing basic syllable structures to help with word recognition and decoding.
  • 6 Syllable Patterns: Teaching the six types of syllables (closed, open, silent e, vowel team, r-controlled, and consonant-lead) to aid reading and spelling.
  • Complex Syllables: Understanding more advanced syllable structures to support reading higher-level texts.
  • Word Blending and Segmentation: Developing skills to combine sounds to form words and break words into their individual sounds.
  • Fluency Training: Practicing reading smoothly and accurately at a natural pace to improve overall reading comprehension.

Who We Serve

At Gifted Apples, we specialize in addressing a variety of learning challenges to support students in their educational journeys. Our focus includes dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, and other specific learning impairments, along with essential skills such as reading readiness, phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, and comprehension.
